FrontContent 3.0, a Content Management System

CMS FrontContent was first released in 2004 and has been used in multiple Internet-related projects since then. Over 500 sites used our product by the end of 2007. Architectural solutions implemented in the product make it especially relevant for constructing medium-sized to large sites.

Key Features:

• Multi-home and multilingual. FrontContent supports an unlimited number of sites on the same server; each of them can exist in multiple-language configurations. Sites running on the same server can be either completely independent or share common content and/or functionality.
• Test/staging version of a site. A test copy of a site facilitates document preparation or making changes without any disruption of the production site. Once prepared, the materials can be published (put on the production site) literally at a press of a button.
• A simple and convenient user interface. A site editor can start working with FrontContent after having only a minimal set of computer skills. Our data structure editor describes site content in simple and understandable terms. For an unsophisticated content editor or publisher; our visual HTML editor program relieves a user of the need to remember details of HTML syntax, and a test version of the site help an editor stage and test-run his changes before publishing on the production system.
• High flexibility and tunability for a given project. FrontContent does not restrict a site developer with pre-defined functionality of standard modules or templates and allows for practically any changes in the site logic without any interference or modifications of the system kernel.
• Speed. Engineering decisions taken during design of data store and principles embedded in the programming code of the engine help squeeze full performance from the underlying web server and the database without imposing artificial restrictions on their speed or capacity.
• Scalability. System architecture of FrontContent supports distributed configurations running over a number of clustered servers.
• Two UI languages possible. System management module can be run with an English- or Russian-language interface, selectable by the program user.

What's new in version 3.0:

Version 3.0 introduces more functionality to speed up and ease work of site developers and editors. Some of the new features are:

• A multi-editing mode which allows work with several content items at the same time;
• A new HTML editor with expanded functionality;
• Updates to data storage mechanisms, which speed up large data uploads and processing at the same time simplifying operator tasks;
• Context search of the full source code of the project is now possible;
• The functionality of «build protection» is added, which now allows partial application of code changes to the main site while other developers continue working on other parts of the code
