• No artificial limitations. Source code for the site generated by the FrontContent CMS is executed in the web server and connects to the database via FrontContent libraries optimized for speed and using FrontContent APIs. Our engine does not contain any interfering extra layers such as internal command language or templates. All development is done in a language that is natural for the web server. Maximum speed is limited only by the web server and database throughput.
• Tuning. FrontContent includes built-in tools for finding out performance bottlenecks in the process of dynamic generation of pages by the web server, which make search for the problematic code and code optimization easier.
• Scalability. Web-projects created with FrontContent are ready for use on cluster configurations, which improves performance and reliability of the system. Both the web server and the database backend can be clustered.

Test version of the site

For every web site created with FrontContent it automatically generates a second test version of the site, completely isolated from the company production version that is visible to the site visitors. This test version is necessary for two reasons:

• Preliminary content publication. Any content can be first tested by a site editor on the non-production copy of the site to see how it will to look on the page design elements, allowing for necessary corrections. Once the pre-published material is approved, it can be transferred to the live version of the site easily.
• Debugging of updates and changes in the programming code of the site. Any changes in the site source code are applied only to the test version by default, and can be applied to the production version later by pressing a button. Using a test and staging version of the site allows for full-scale development without affecting the production version. FrontContent supports either full or partial updates of the production version, which allows for immediate use of partial updates without waiting for the completion of the whole project.

Customization and integration

Solutions based on FrontContent are flexible and open for integration into other information systems. A number of FrontContent features make it a universal tool for building integrated web-solutions:

• Free structuring of the web application and the database. The site structure created by FrontContent is not rigid, nor is the structure of its database backend. The system architecture is designed not to place limitations on a developer through the use of unavoidable templates and modules, but to ensure maximum flexibility and enable the use of all means provided by modern programming languages and databases.
• Customization without a loss of compatibility with new versions. System flexibility and the level of freedom given to a developer minimize the risks of introducing incompatibility. Any solutions developed with FrontContent, even typical solutions can be customized to match the demands of any particular project. In practical terms any changes can be realized without changing the system kernel, and therefore without any loss of compatibility with newer versions.
• A web site created through FrontContent is a full member of SOA-architecture of the company's IT infrastructure. FrontContent includes XML-based web services for automatic management of the site from external systems. These services help automate publishing from external sources. The web services support access control and authorization mechanisms, thus lowering risks of unauthorized use.
